Message in a Bottle

Ahhh. The romance of it all! Have you heard the stories of bottles that are centuries old washing ashore, finally being found by some lucky beachcomber? These stories are the inspiration behind my goal of wanting to send my own message in a bottle...

I have been debating in my head whether or not I am really okay with doing this the traditional way because I am worried about Shamu and the fact that TECHNICALLY it is still littering (not that the drunk people on the beach who toss beer bottles into the waves care). So I came up with an alternate plan ... I was not to be thwarted on my goal!

But first things first ... the writing of the letter for the message in a bottle. I will not include all the contents of the letter here (that would just spoil it) but I will say that part of it was one of my favorite quotes: "In the moments of our lives, both the joyous and the tragic, if the truth is to be told we are all pursuing magic."

My brilliant plan was to tie little strings around my bottle. The idea is for people to pass it along ... each new person would untie a string and give it to another person. The last person to untie a string gets to open the bottle!

Here is the bottle with instructions about what to do with it written on the outside:

I wanted to stick as close to the original as possible ... so I even stuck a cork in it and sealed it with wax. It even has confetti inside ... I know, cute huh!

Next I had to find a stranger to get the bottle on its journey, which I did today. A nice woman in her mid-thirties I would say. I explained it to her and she took my message in a bottle under her wing. So we'll see what happens! I put an email address in there so I am hoping to hear back from the person who ends up opening it.

And even if I do send the traditional message in a bottle, do you think I would never admit to illegal behavior (i.e., LITTERING) on a public blog?
