World Cuisines Cont'd. (Iranian)

So ... I found this Persian/Iranian restaurant in San Diego, and let me say, it was a great place! The people there were so sweet to me, introducing me to Iranian cuisine. There are a lot of similarities between Iranian food and other cuisines of the Middle East, but there are differences. This picture is of koobideh, a dish that is commonly eaten in Iran.

This is essentially shredded sirloin that has been skewered.

After this I partook of some traditional Iranian desserts, the likes of which I had never seen!
Here is how they put it on the menu:

PERSIAN ICE CREAM (Rosewater, Saffron and Pistachio)

FALOODEH (Rosewater and starch)

MAKHLOOT (Combination of ice cream and faloodeh)

So I had the MAKHLOOT which combined the other two, and the white stuff with the shredded looking things in it was the Faloodeh. It was soooo good, and kind of difficult to explain. If you have ever had rose milk or anything with rose water in it, you know it is a unique flavor. I happen to love it, and I loved it in both these desserts. And the ice cream had a really unique flavor to it.

To top it off, the guy from the restaurant (who is a total sweetheart) gave me one of their pastries to go with one of their popular drinks, and that was good too!!!
