Welcome to my Blog!

Thanks for visiting my latest task in a list of life goals that is over 6 pages long. The reason I named this blog "Of treehouses and pink sand beaches..." is because both make appearances on my goal list ... to be specific they are stated this way: "Sleep overnight in a tree house" and "Walk on a pink sand beach". One of the other goals is having and maintaining my own blog ... so ... ta daaah!

I have been toying with the idea of listing my entire life goals list on-line but I thought it might be a bit more fun if they get revealed as I accomplish them. Plus, the list is constantly growing and changing -- but I haven't DELETED any goals, I would consider that cheating. ;)

So nobody (including me!) will know what crazyfun thing I am planning on doing next. I can tell you this much ... there is nothing illegal or dangerous on my list. Sorry if that spoils it!

My most recent endeavor from my life list literally found its beginnings a few weeks back when I came down with a bad case of the flu. Nothing good was on TV so I was watching some animated show with these claymation animals. There was this purple claymation dragon who decided that he wanted to create a special day for dragons and call it "Dragon's Day." He made up this little dance, hid presents around his house, and invited friends over to celebrate "Dragon's Day."

In the delerium of illness I thought, hey, that would be fun! I should put together my own holiday and celebrate it at least annually. The problem is that simply having these thoughts in my head is the point of fixation (that is lawyer talk for you) and I sort of have this compulsion to add it to my life list. So...

I have been toying with all sorts of different ideas, and I finally narrowed it down to two. One was having a sort of Merry Un-Birthday party and playing that song from "Alice in Wonderland" and having everyone wear crazy hats. The party would center around people bringing a wrapped birthday present for themselves (something they have been holding back on buying) and we all open them together!

Sorry to disappoint anyone who thought that was the route I should go. People were giving me strange looks when I threw that idea out on the table. I guess it was a little too psychedelic or something.

Anyway, I finally settled on something else ... drum roll ... an Annual Girl's Night Out/Slumber Party! This speaks to my occasional need to indulge my guilty pleasures of reading teenie-bopper magazines and pigging out on chocolate. I haven't come up with a cool name yet, but here are some of my ideas:
  • Send out invitations with pictures of sleeping bags, fuzzy slippers, etc.
  • Mix up some yummy Virgin Pina Coladas.
  • Watch Chick Flicks.
  • Read cheesy magazines along the lines of TeenVogue and if we want to get REALLY cheesy, Tiger Beat.
  • Chocolate, chocolate, CHOCOLATE! I even found a recipe for a chocolate facial mask.
  • Play those favorite kid's games like Chutes and Ladders, Candyland, etc.
  • Get up and watch cartoons in the morning while eating breakfast parfaits and/or chocolate chip pancakes.

So, I will let you know how this goes. I am planning on having my 1st annual (insert TBD slumber party name) in 2009.
